| The Belleville Model Railroad Club was
established in 1972, and started with approximately 50 members, however
this peak membership petered out rapidly and ended with about 25 members.
This early organization met at Queen Victoria Public School for about 2
years until they were evicted because of the renovation to the school.
The club layout during this period was about 16' x 20'.
In 1975 the club moved to John's Hobby Shop in the Belleville Plaza
(now the Bayview Mall) where they built a layout that was open to the
public. This location too closed and the club was forced to move again.
Next the club was located in Karl Berthower's house on River Road,
where a layout was built that was displayed at shows in the Armories.
Club information meetings were held at Bill Coleman's house.
After a few years the club moved to Stan Suley's basement where the
first traveling layout was constructed.
Some of the first shows the club participated in were Toronto March

In
October 1992 the club moved to the basement of the old baggage terminal at
the Belleville VIA station, where we have built a large
operating layout, which still requires some fine tuning, as well as two
portable layouts. Our club attends
approximately 6 out of town train shows per year. We have an open house yearly and a
December Christmas train show. The club
also takes part in some community events, and the members can be available
to give advise. Group visits to our clubhouse can be arranged, and club
visits to schools can also be arranged.
We meet every Tuesday evening
from 7:00 to 10:00 and alternate between a "Running Night", or a "Work
Night"
Every two weeks on a Monday night we have
an “Operating Night
