Belleville Via Rail station to open soon.

The Belleville Via Rail station is unofficially open to the public and it's official opening is coming up soon. The old building will remain standing as it is listed as a Heritage Building and cannot be demolished.

The new station has three platforms two of which are accessed overhead by elevator or stairs. The idea is for Via trains not to have to crossover onto the nearest single track as in the past causing delays. This will allow two trains to pass each other through the station on separate tracks. The waiting area is bright and airy with lots of seating space. A big advantage is the waiting area is air conditioned.
